Mother Vulture

Generally the sight of vultures is the sign of death but today it was the sign of life. The other day I noticed a vulture perched on a very large hollowed out oak tree stump for two consecutive days. Curiosity caught the best of me, as I approached a vulture emerged from the depths of the huge hollow tree stump. The opening was approximately four and a half feet tall and four feet across, providing a spacious nest. A peek inside revealed two large specked eggs that were tapping out a rhythmic beat. The mother vulture perched high on a nearby tree and watched the nosey on-looker.
