Colt: A Young Cattle Dog in Training

The importance of a good cattle dog can not be overstated. A well trained dog can save the rancher a thousand steps; however, the training process can not be rushed. The cows should not be frightened by the sheer presence of the dog but need to move when the dog is called upon to direct cows in the desired direction. Colt is a young healer mix that is just learning the ropes. He is learning to steer (pun intended) clear of protective momma cows yet be friendly to the curious calves. Today, he is a good student and bonds with the larger bull calf with licks to the nose.
