Playing with Fire
Lots of trees equals a lot of burn piles! The spring clean-up is nearly complete, before the snakes arrive in full force and the declaration of summer fire bans. Stacking the wood in a tepee formation creates a torch that burns efficiently; however, timing is everything, the ground must be damp enough not to catch all the underlying leaves on fire but dry enough to allow a fire to be started. There is a small window of opportunity finding both conditions at the same time, during the spring rains.
This years clean up allowed for the addition of three new ATV / horse riding trails in the woods surrounding the lake.
